The Statement of Iranian Kurdistan Pen Association on forbidding
the activism of Democratic Society Party in Turkey
Forbidding a peaceful way is opening the doors of violence
As you are well aware of the news broadcasted in international
and regional news agencies, a court in Turkey has convicted the
Democratic Society Party of Turkey and has prevented its civic
and political activism and this stand of Turkish Court had a big
influence in the world and has worried the civic and political
activists and the intellectuals who are supporting this peaceful
movements.
We as Iranian Kurdistan Pen Association express our worry about
Turkish Court’s stance and we believe that these ways of
confronting to the activism of a party like Democratic Society
is not of any benefit for Turkish state and also cannot prevent
the crisis in Turkey. We also believe that each pace of making
obstacles in front of the civic and democratic parties, is a
pace towards war and crisis and of this window we believe that
the Turkish court sentence shows a wrong stance.
When a window of dialogue on the problems of Kurds in Turkey was
opened we were optimists about the Turkish government stance,
and we believed that this stance could be a window for opening
democratic space of dialogue understanding each other in order
to find solutions for the problems which were not solved by war
in Turkey, however the new stance of Turkish court the mentioned
optimistic space was a warning for all supporters of civic
movements in the world and specially in the soil of Turkey.
Iranian Kurdistan Pen Association hopes that the Turkish Court
revises it sentence and in this way solves the crisis which have
come to exist in Kurdish areas of Turkey just because of this
sentence.
